ANDREW BRIEDIS (ANNOYING ACTOR FRIEND)
Annoying Actor Friend is a satirical Internet personality that makes cultural commentary on the Broadway community and was created by Andrew Briedis in 2012. For over three years, Andrew operated anonymously, and in December of 2015 he revealed his identity.
Annoying Actor Friend rose to notoriety on Twitter by spoofing the social media behavior of actors. It soon spun-off into a blog, where it did everything from recapping NBC’s Smash, to constructing drinking games for awards shows such as the Tonys, and even becoming an empowering voice that inspired actors to engage more with the stage union, Actors’ Equity Association as well as ignite the viral movement #Dim4Joan that motivated the Broadway League to reverse their decision not to dim the lights of Broadway in memory of Joan Rivers.
In 2013, #SOBLESSED: the Annoying Actor Friend’s Guide to Werking in Show Business was released on paperback and Kindle where it became the Amazon #1 best selling Theater and Parody book on its first day of sale.
The audiobook version of #SOBLESSED: the Annoying Actor Friend’s Guide to Werking in Show Business features an all star cast of Broadway favorites that include: Alan Cumming, Lesli Margherita, Megan Hilty, Julia Murney, Will Swenson, Keala Settle, Tituss Burgess, Krysta Rodriguez, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, and Brian Dennehy.
#GRATEFUL: Everything Happens for a Reason, the ‘create your own show business destiny’ sequel to #SOBLESSED, was released in 2015 and is available on paperback and Kindle.
Backstage Magazine placed @Actor_Friend on its Future Broadway Power List alongside Tony nominated director, Alex Timbers. #SOBLESSED Live! (a concert in the theme of the book) played to sold out audiences at 54 Below in September ’14, February ’15, and July ’15. Annoying Actor Friend was chosen as a wildcard finalist in the 2015 Shorty Awards, which honor the best of social media.
Andrew Briedis is a writer, and former actor/model whose only real credits from that period in his life include: The Boy Friend directed by Julie Andrews (u/s Tony), a cool editorial for the 2008 Fall Fashion issue of New York Magazine where he got to stand on top of a sea of cabs, and Beyonce’s 2006 VMA performance of “Ring the Alarm.” For a brief period in the summer of 2015, Andrew got the Internet to believe he was playing a transgender Michelle Tanner in the Netflix series Fuller House. He likes Jurassic Park a lot. OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA: Twitter/Instagram — @AndrewBriedis.
